Using a pressure washer can be dangerous if proper safety precautions are not taken. Here are a few examples of "dumb" ways someone could get hurt while using a pressure washer:
.Pointing the nozzle at someone: The high-pressure water stream can cause serious injury or even death if it hits someone in the face or chest.
.Not wearing proper eye and ear protection: The high-pressure water stream can cause damage to the eyes and ears if proper protection is not worn.
.Not properly securing the hose: If the hose is not properly secured, it can whip around and cause injury to the person using the pressure washer or to others nearby.
.Using a pressure washer on an unstable surface: If the person using the pressure washer is standing on an unstable surface, they could slip or fall, causing injury.
.Not properly maintaining the pressure washer: If the pressure washer is not properly maintained, it could malfunction and cause injury.
.Using pressure washer on electrical equipment, or near electrical sources, with out making sure everything is properly grounded and isolated.
.Using the pressure washer for cleaning chemicals or flammable liquids, which can cause an explosion or fire hazard.
.Refuelling the gas powered engine while the engine is still running which can cause a flash fire.
.Accidentally touching the muffler during operation or while the engine is still hot can cause a servers burn.
.Making a repair to the pump plumbing using low pressure pipe fittings.
.Wearing open toe shoes or flip flops can leave the operator prone to slip and fall. High pressure should never come in contact with any body part or exposed skin. Non slip work boots are recommended.
It's important to always read the instruction manual and follow the manufacturer's recommendations for safe use and operation of the pressure washer.
