Why Use 93 Octane Gasoline?

Using 93 Octane Gasoline

**Importance of Using 93 Octane Gasoline in Water Cannon Pressure Washers with Overhead Valve Honda Engines & Issues with Ethanol**

Using the correct type of fuel for your pressure washer is a crucial element to ensure its optimal performance. This tutorial will explain why it is recommended to use 93 octane gasoline in your Water Cannon pressure washer fitted with an overhead valve Honda engine, as well as address the problems associated with ethanol.

**Why Use 93 Octane Gasoline?**

1. **Improved Performance**: Higher octane gas like 93 octane can better withstand high compression before igniting, which is optimal for engines like those found in Water Cannon pressure washers that run at high compression ratios. Improved compression leads to more power output and better engine efficiency.

2. **Protects Engine**: Additionally, use of high octane fuel helps prevent 'engine knocking' or 'pinking', which is premature fuel ignition in the combustion chamber. This is crucial to maintain the health of the engine and to avoid damages.

3. **Enhanced Lifespan**: Regularly using 93 octane gasoline can also help in extending the life of your engine. By reducing 'knocking' and running more efficiently, your engine will experience less wear and tear over time, leading to a longer engine life.

**What's the Issue with Ethanol?**

Ethanol-blended fuels are common, but they can create problems when used in engines like those in Water Cannon pressure washers:

1. **Decreased Performance**: Ethanol contains less energy per gallon than gasoline, which can result in decreased performance and reduced fuel economy.

2. **Potential Damage**: Ethanol is a solvent and can loosen debris lodged in fuel systems, leading to clogs. It may also cause corrosion in the fuel system, leading to further engine damage.

3. **Water Attraction**: Ethanol attracts moisture. This can cause phase separation in the gas tank where water saturates the ethanol and sinks to the bottom of the tank, leading to serious engine problems.

To ensure the performance and extend the lifespan of your overhead valve Honda engine, it's advisable to use 93 octane gas and minimize the use of ethanol-blended fuels. Always refer to your engine's manual for the manufacturer's recommendations on fuel types and proper usage.

Rotating nozzles, also known as turbo nozzles, can be significantly

Rotating nozzles, also known as turbo nozzles, can be significantly faster than regular pressure washer nozzles when it comes to cleaning certain types of surfaces. This is because they use a spinning action to create a more intense and concentrated stream of water that is better able to remove paint stripping, dirt, grime, mold, and other types of unwanted buildup.

The 25 degree spinning action of the nozzle causes the water to rotate and create a fan like spray pattern, that can cover larger area in less time. This fan-like spray pattern can also be adjusted to focus more on the surface to be cleaned for a more intense clean of a zero degree blast nozzle.

The pressure washing speed increase can vary depending on the type of surface being cleaned, the size of the surface and other factors like pressure, water flow and nozzle orifice size. However, it is safe to say that, generally, rotating nozzles can clean surfaces 4 times faster than regular nozzles, due to the more intense and concentrated stream of water they produce.

Keep in mind that Rotating nozzles tend to have a much higher price point, and may not be appropriate for all cleaning task. They may also wear out faster than a standard nozzle, because of the mechanical component that spins, so they may need more maintenance. Rotating nozzles are rebuild-able.

When using a rotating nozzle always point the nozzle down towards the floor before engaging the trigger. Always wear protective safety gear when using your Water Cannon rotating nozzle.

Avoid cheap imitation color-coded nozzles

https://www.watercannon.com/category/707/qc-nozzles-and-packs

The lifespan of a pressure washer nozzle can vary depending on several factors, including the quality of the nozzle, the type of use, and the conditions in which it is operated. Under normal conditions, with regular maintenance and proper usage, a Water Cannon pressure washer nozzle can last anywhere from several hundred to several thousand hours of use.

However, nozzles can wear out faster if they're exposed to poorly filtered intake water or subjected to rough treatment on the exterior surfaces of the nozzle. Most importantly the nozzle orifice must be clear of debris. When nozzle clogs are not removed the force of the pressure will unevenly wear the nozzle dramatically reducing its lifespan.

Regularly inspecting and cleaning nozzles, select the correct orifice size and using the appropriate fan nozzle for the job can greatly prolong the life of the nozzle. In general it is advisable to have spare nozzles on hand, so that when there is a clog or signs of uneven spraying you can quickly replace it and stay focused on finishing the pressure washing task.

Water cavitation is a phenomenon that can occur in a pressure washer…

Always use a commercial grade garden hose with a three-quarter inch non-collapsible internal diameter. Having adequate water supply is the first step in avoiding damaging pressure washer cavitation.

Water cavitation is a phenomenon that can occur in a pressure washer when the water pressure is too high. It occurs when the pressure of the water is reduced to the point where it can no longer hold dissolved gases in solution.

These gases then come out of the solution in the form of bubbles, which can collapse and implode with great force, creating microscopic vacuum pockets or low-pressure areas. These vacuum pockets can damage the most durable metals including stainless steel.

The sudden collapse of these bubbles, or cavities, generates intense pressure and heat, which can erode the surfaces they come into contact with. It is most common near the nozzle, in the pump and in the pressure washer hose.

To avoid cavitation, it is important to use the appropriate pressure setting for the task at hand, and ensure that the water supply is adequate to meet the demands of your Water Cannon pressure washer.
